My wedding

Currently watching the royal wedding. unbelievably perfect. literal fairytale.

these royals are more personable and relatable (to an extent) than any royal generation before and that makes today feel more like 'ours'. I remember back in 1997, after Princess Diana passed, my neighbor Annie G. and I would spend hours upon hours fantasizing about this day (of course with a different bride involved...) and looking up pictures of William in my parents computer room. I told pretty much everyone that I was going to marry Prince William up until... well... there's still a chance of divorce, right?? Just kidding, Kevan ;)

such class. I am completely head over heals with the lace and queen mother's diamond tiara

perfect length, perfect train

fairytale

again with the lace. ugh! just beautiful

love

disclaimer: i do realize that taking pictures off of my own tv is severely creeps... but google images doesn't have pictures posted yet!

Easter-ish Dinner.

Soooo... I know that Easter Sunday was yesterday and i know that for most, today is just another Monday, but for those of us living at Procrastinators-R-Us tonight is Easter... take that! No, i'm kidding. But really- Kevan and i were running around all day yesterday and by the time we got home we were
1. too tired
2. had no Easter Dinner food and after going to 3 grocery stores decided to just go home
mostly number 1. I'm not sure that if we had come across an open store that we would have actually made anything.
It was quite possibly the most beautiful day that we've had all year. We met my parents at their home at 10 and made our way to brunch at the country club with my mom's family. Everyone's easter pastels made life feel clean and new and the weather just brought it all home. The 4 of us changed at the club for our 1 o'clock service (my mom was 'very offended' that i kept referring to the Twin's game as church... i know... i'm going to hell) and went to Target Field to witness our own miracle- a Twins win! After the game, we parted ways with my parents at their home and stopped over to Kevan's parents'. We talked and talked and his mom and i informed Kevan that he and i are getting another puppy and he has no real say in that matter :)
We finally got home around 6? midnight? who knows- i was dead tired. too tired to make dinner, which brings us back full circle. Easter Dinner on a regular Monday.
and it was delicious!

hope you had a wonderful, sunny, family-filled, love-tastic Easter!

Poo Poo to you, Mr. Weather Man.

My once unwavering faith in the predictions of our acute weathermen has been tested to the breaking point today. When they stated that it would snow throughout that day starting at 9 am, i believed them. Sadly to say, i am home from work and there is still not a speck to be found.
Damn you Weatherman, Damn you.
My confidence in your absolute power over Mother Nature is ruined.

In other news, here's a little list of the shtuff i'm hopefully going to touch this fine, un-snowie eve:

ps... we'll probably get a foot overnight now :(

1 month and 4 days

Isn't this the craziest?! 1 month and 4 days ago, our front yard looked like this:

I took this picture TODAY on my drive home. Yeah, baby! 68!!

We've really made! Like really, really! Spring has sprung and it has never felt so nice :)

On another note:

I have been given the great honor of hosting a baby shower for this little lady next weekend. Her sissy is back in Seattle again (you have to sing that like Gene Autry) and wont be here to do so herself so she graciously awarded me the privilege- Yippee! Anywho... My momma came over to help plan and we ended up on ichat with some of my cuzies! What a bootiful bunch, eh??

Wow...That's Wild!

I know what you're saying... "Why would you paint those walls? It's such an amazing paint job! So............ Minnesota Wild super fan!" Yeah. I'm a Twins girl. Roo is a computer boy. And neither of us are into painting our interests onto the walls. Thank the lord, this is the worst room of the house, but trust me... that doesn't mean that the other two bedrooms weren't wretched. Our bedroom was two different shades of tennis ball and the office (once their daughter's room) looked like a Disney princes threw up on the walls- neon pink on opposite walls, purple on the others (i'll show pics when we're done). Blargh.

I did not like them, Sam I am. I did not like them........ puke on the walls...
looking from the door to the corner-corner to the door
looking from the blank corner to the window corner-window corner and so on...
oh yeah... it appears that they let their children paint the walls. Even I wanted to sand the walls and if you really know me... you know that that means a lot.

Inspiration... that might make you jealous

I'm sure that if you're an avid blog follower, you've heard of the NieNie Dialogues. If you haven't, you should probably go there and start reading right now... at the first post... I know I sure did. I find her story inspiring on so many levels. How devoted she is to her children, her creativity that spreads throughout her home, her resilience after the accident, and her true trust that there is a higher power (sometimes that's laid on a little heavy for my liking...). As I'm taking this journey through life, educating myselfin all religions is very important to me. I don't believe that there is a true right or wrong or that one belief is better than another, but Nie's strength in her Mormon belief just fascinates me. I honestly don't have the slightest idea of what the Mormon's virtues are (other than no drinking, sex before marriage, or swearing... booooring), but I find them so intriguing that I had to do this:
hahahaha again... for those who have read Nie's blog, you may have noticed the tab on the right. It reads "Would you like a free copy of Nie's favorite book? Click here." So... I clicked there, gave her my info and after I had completely forgotten about it, there it was in the mailbox:
mmmhmmm...
I'm THAT big of a dork that I totally had Nie send my a copy of the Book of Mormon. To be honest... I've read the first page, I don't get it, and I most likely will not go back... BUT she signed it! or at least someone signed it for her... but I'm going to pretend that SHE signed it! and wrote MY name! I mean... this is the woman whose blog I read non-stop every day after work to the point where Roo would come home and say "are we having blog for dinner again?"... yeah. I just may have geeked out whilst opening my treasured package. I'm a nerd... what. I lurv her.

7 years.

Today was a hard day for my boy. 7 years ago today- one of his best friends left us. 7 years ago today- the guy he would hang out with until 7 am everyday, the guy who taught him how to drive again after the accident, the guy he spent nearly every waking moment with passed away.
Today was a hard day for Roo.
So, here are 5 things just for Roo. I know you're hurting, but I love you.

Second Birthday

Welcome to St. Patricia's Day (aka... my second birthday)
As my name is Patricia (would have been Patrick had I been a boy), I am 40% Irish, I love drinking anything, and green things make me happy I pronounced this to be my second birthday years ago. Here is what I am currently doing/enjoying:

Listening to:

Cooking:

Drinking: everything... cause I'm Irish

I'm also making an Irish Beef and Guinness pot pie... I'm completely (well 80%) making up the recipe, so we'll see how this goes. I'll have to get some reviews from my taste testers and post at a later date.
So... I leave you with this, an Irish Blessing:

For every storm, a rainbow
for every tear, a smile.
For every care, a promise,
and a blessing in each trial.
For every problem life sends,
a faithful friend to share.
For every sigh, a sweet song,
and an answer to each prayer.

Dear Lovey,

Have I told you today how much I love you?
How you can make me laugh harder than anyone in the whole, wide, world?
How everytime I think about you, my heart skips and my smile grows wide?
Even we're mad as hornets, we look at each other and our hearts smile then we laugh h-a-r-d?

Have I told you today how much I love you?
How I never feel more safe than when I'm with you?
How your unwaivering encouragement in everything that I do and want to do means the world to me?
Even when you leave your pee in the basement toilet for days, I still think you're sexxxy?

Have I told you today how much I love you?
How I think that you are going to be the best father the world has ever known?
How I am so happy that I get to spend the rest of my life with you?
Even when your breath stinks, there's no one I'd rather smooch?

I love you my Roo-X!

Help wanted.

Can someone please tell me what happened??

My baby bird has turned into a huge, crazy, hot mess. Maybe it's because she ate the cat:

Wanna Join Us??

Why hello there!
The Mr. and I are heading out on our annual Memorial Day/Week trip out west and to Roo's dismay, I've dubbed it the Spring Fling! hahahaha He'll probably be all like "seriously?"... yeah Roo... seriously. We did this last year, although it was mostly just quick stops on our way out to Seatle (best...city...ever.). This time around, we're going to take it slow. Instead of blowing through everything in a day, we're going to spend a few days in each local. Here's what the trip looks like so far:
Tuesday through Friday will be spent in the Tetons and Yellowstone with us scooting home on Saturday and then resting our road-worn bones on Sunday. We camp as much as we can, which is probably the best part. My question for you... would you like to join??
It'll be a blast and I just CANNOT wait until our departure!
RSVP by phone... if you don't know my number, you can't come... sorry ;)

I'm Baaaaaack!

I've been flaky... super flakey for a while now. We've bought a house, moved into said house (guh), experienced a great and painful loss, thought about the future, etc... you know how it goes! I just plain old didn't have much to say.
Well folks... good news for you- that has changed!
This weekend brought a ray of light into our house. I'm not sure what, but something changed and it's like woah. It's like Marianne from TrueBlood has done her crazy vibrating thing and changed the mood of life (if you dont know what I'm talking about- get it on NetFlix. If you do know what I'm talking about- when the F is season 3 being released on DVD??).
Anywhoooo...
Now that it's starting to thaw here, I'm not as paranoid to take my camera outside and photo document. I'll post pics of the house A-SNAP.

Yes... that is Winnie. She's a nut- TOTAL nut.

Longing.

I know, I know. I shouldn't complain. We've basically had a heatwave for the past week (yes, 25 in January is considered a heatwave in MN- I guess we just have bigger balls then the pansies on the East Coast...), but on gloomy, cold mornings like today I can't help by long for the days of summer.

I can't wait for weekends at the lake, no snow, outdoor festivals and markets, warmth.
So, bring it on Winter! Give me your worst! Because, I know that in just a few short months, you will be gone and the spring time's soft, sunny glow will be upon us.

Dale.

Today we are going to a church to remember a man I've known all of my life. A man so full of life and the spirit of living that the world has felt a little empty and colorless since he passed last Sunday morning. If you had ever met Dale Nelson even just in passing, you'd know what I was talking about. He was so full of an exuberant passion for so many things (most notably his two sons) that it was almost addicting to be around him. As if his passion and love of life and all the things you could create while living just might rub off on you if you were to be with him just a little longer. I wish he would be here just a little longer.
Dale was such an amazing creator and lover of many things. Food, wine (I can't count the number of evenings spent with the Nelsons, my parents, good food and ALWAYS great wine), baseball, photography, writing, and a passion that some of you may not remember- landscaping. mmmhmmm. For the longest time, Dale Nelson had the most amazing front and backyard I had ever seen (not saying it's not beautiful now, but you should have seen it before his love of photography came along). Everything from exotic flowers and trees to the fountain and shed in back to the meticulously laid brick patio (that my dad still talks about laying with Tracy's dad on the hottest day that the world has ever known) was Dale. He had so much pride in his yard and it truly was beautiful.
That was one of the many beauties of Dale. He didn't just have fleeting interests that came and went, he truly studied and perfected the art that he was creating. He took so much pride in his life, created such beautiful things and always wanted to teach anyone who had the slightest interest in what he was doing. He was so engaging, intelligent, funny, loving and just cool. Saying goodbye is going to be really hard.
I will miss you very much Dale, but remembering you fills my heart with so much happiness, laughter, and love.
